An 8 ½ mile leisurely, flat walk with several interesting features. Starting at an ancient water powered flour mill we go through Hockenhull Platts Nature Reserve with an abundance of bird and plant life, over medieval packhorse bridges, over fields and down country lanes to the Shropshire Union Canal where we take the tow path to Golden Nook. Here we return over fields and the River Gowy to Walk Mill for a treat at the café. Several stiles on the route.
Wear strong boots and appropriate clothing.
Bring snacks, lunch and drinks.
No dogs please – lots of livestock on the route.
Please support the café. Bakery products are made from the mill’s locally grown wheat with the flour milled on site. (Their flours, rapeseed oil and honey are available to buy). Do have a look around the Mill.
